The NCC’s biodiversity education project Our Earth, Our Stories offers a successful working model illustrating the achievements of community members, environmental organisations and the NSW state government working collaboratively on an education project.

In recognition of the issues surrounding biodiversity conservation and the need for further education and awareness initiatives Our Earth, Our Stories was developed as a biodiversity education project to address the lack of awareness and engagement around threats to biodiversity at a community level by offering people the opportunity to tell a visual story about their local area. Through the organisation of a variety of practical workshops ‘Shutterbug workshops’ held in the field, community participants were provided with an opportunity to engage with a range of environmental professionals as well as take nature photographs to enter into the competition.

This workshop will detail the development and implementation of Our Earth, Our Stories – the achievements and challenges as well as the future of the project.
