e-news: Mar 2007
55 enthusiastic members of the Tzu Chi (Chinese) and Lak Saviya (Sri Lanka) Foundation's attended a field trip to Warragamba Dam on Saturday 10 February. This trip was hosted by the Sydney Catchment Authority, as part of their training to become volunteer Water Ambassadors.
The Water Ambassador Program aims to promote water wise behaviour in the community through the guidance and encouragement of trained community members known as Water Ambassadors.
The Tzu Chi and Lak Saviya members are part of the first pilot for the Program. Their enthusiasm and dedication to the water issue has only been heightened by what they learnt and saw at Warragamba Dam.
"I thought that this field excursion was one the most enjoyable and informative experiences I have ever had, and I look forward to being a member of the Water Ambassador Program this year."
Dasni Fonseka - a young Lak Saviya Foundation member
Within a few months more than a dozen trained volunteer Water Ambassadors will be working in their communities to help people save Sydney's precious water.
The Water Ambassador Program is part of the Water for Life Education Program.
