Living Sustainably

Issue 9 - Oct 2008

blue planet

A new initiative from the Gosford/Wyong Councils' Water Authority is providing high school teachers, students and the community with up to date, national and local information on a range of water topics.

Maree Whelan from Wyong Shire Council says the Blue Planet website is the result of an in-depth analysis of the current NSW Curriculum.

"The easy to navigate site includes information about the chemistry of water, the water cycle, water infrastructure on the Central Coast, water usage and El Niño and La Niña."

"The website also contains case and local area studies. These include Responding to Natural Disaster and the Porters Creek Case Study, which examines the largest freshwater wetland on the Central Coast."

"Other features include the Get Published section which offers schools the opportunity to upload details about projects undertaken by students," Ms Whelan said.
