Living Sustainably

Issue 9 - Oct 2008
Water Educator Leadership

Interactive workshops will be part of the leadership program.

Advancing leaders, a new leadership program for sustainability and water educators in greater Sydney, started in September 2008.

This innovative program focuses on developing the skills and capabilities educators need to deliver leading practice, sustainability education projects and to lead change within their own organisations.

The program is run as a short course with activities spread over a number of months and structured to achieve a balance between theory and practical experience. It includes innovative and tailored workshops, personal development plans, mentoring and a work-based project.

Workshops will involve inspirational and high level guest speakers, practical examples and case studies and an opportunity to extend networks and partnership opportunities. Projects developed during the program also have the potential to receive seed funding for commencement in 2009.

Selected participants from local government, non-government or state government organisations in Sydney, the Illawarra and Blue Mountains were offered fully subsidised places in the program thanks to the NSW Government's Water For Life Education Program.
