Living Sustainably

Issue 9 - Oct 2008

Funded by the Urban Sustainability Program - Major Grants under the NSW Government's Environmental Trust, Business Treading Lightly is targeting aged care facilities, the hospitality industry and small businesses operating within industrial estates.

The project, which began in July 2007, is:

  • partnering with the NSW Department of Environment and Climate Change NSW (DECC) Sustainability Advantage Program to support businesses to implement sustainability action plans
  • encouraging existing business award programs to include a sustainability award
  • introducing regional sustainability branding and accreditation process
  • developing a strategy for the councils involved to be sustainability role models for their communities.

The project is being managed by the Southern Councils Group a voluntary association of the Bega, Eurobodalla, Kiama, Shellharbour, Shoalhaven, Wingecarribee and Wollongong councils.
