Hosted by the Minister for Climate Change and the Environment, Verity Firth, the Green Globe Awards are now in their ninth year and have become the environment’s night-of-nights.

Ms Firth, who congratulated winners at the Parliament House event, said the 2008 Awards attracted a record 105 nominations for 14 awards covering a range of water, energy and sustainability programs.

New award categories were introduced this year, including an award for small business and awards for business, government and individual environmental sustainability.

Winners include: Instyle Contract Textiles (overall winner of the Premier’s Sustainability Excellence Award); Mirvac; Peats Ridge Festival; Investa Property Group; Optus and Sydney Water.
