Conversation Café provides
feedback on the draft Water
for Life Action Plan

The draft Water for Life Action Plan for all Metropolitan Water Education 2007-2011 and its consultation phase were recently launched at the inaugural Water for Life Forum, held on 19 September 2007.

The draft Action Plan aims to provide the framework to coordinate all water education across Greater Sydney. It sets the priority objectives and strategies to maximise the contribution of education as one of the many strategies to secure Sydney's water supplies.

The draft Action Plan is for those working in water management, education or sustainability and has been collaboratively developed by representatives from local government, non government organisations and the NSW Government, as an initiative of the NSW Government's Water for Life Education Program.

The Water for Life Forum kicked off the consultation period for the draft Action Plan with a popular Conversation Café style feedback session. It was attended by over 100 participants, including water managers and educators across all sectors and was opened by The Hon. Nathan Rees MP, Minister for Water Utilities.

The theme of the Forum was 'Leading practice in water education'. It provided a chance for those involved in water management and education on water issues to share and discuss leading practice projects engaging the community on water, including a range of workshops by numerous organisations working on innovative water education projects.

The Forum was also an occasion to set the directions, and understand opportunities for future support and professional learning provided by Water for Life and across the network.

The presentations from the Forum are now available and worth a visit to get some ideas for your work, whether it's in education, management or sustainability.
