Living Sustainably

Issue 4 - Mar 2007

"By using the guide, manufacturers can implement practical environmental measures in their business. The guide enables manufacturers in the kitchen and bathroom, joinery and furniture making industries to meet their regulatory requirements and be environmentally responsible in their business operations" said Lisa Corbyn, Director General, DEC.

Timber products guide
The guide is designed to help NSW manufacturers of furniture and timber products:

  • understand the environmental risks and responsibilities associated with the industry
  • take action to improve the environmental management of their operations, and
  • take advantage of the business benefits that result from improved environmental practices.

DEC is now working with the Furnishing Industry Association of Australia, the Housing Industry Association and local government to develop hands-on vocational training for all managers, directors and employees in the furniture and timber products manufacturing industry.
