Living Sustainably

Issue 4 - Mar 2007

In early May, the NSW Department of Environment and Conservation Professional Development for Educators program will hold a series of workshops across NSW to launch the Education for Sustainability Capabilities Framework and present the online Education for Sustainability Professional Learning Hub - a world first in the field of Education for Sustainability (EfS).

The Education for Sustainability Capabilities Framework is a self-assessment tool, designed to assist educators in identifying their professional learning needs in the context of their work. The framework characterises the core capabilities and professional learning areas required to be an effective EfS practitioner.

Driven by the Framework, the new learning hub provides an interactive online 'one-stop shop' designed to facilitate professional learning by connecting educators with service providers.

Educators have the opportunity to be one of the first to learn about and experience these exciting new professional development tools by attending the workshops planned for mid 2007 in Sydney and major regional centres (based on demand).

Workshops are aimed at all those involved in sustainability education and the provision of professional learning service. By attending the workshop, practitioners will gain a comprehensive professional learning plan and service providers will learn how to market their services and connect with potential participants.

To register your interest or to find out more, please email Project Officer Corey Fox.
