Living Sustainably

Issue 23 - March 2012

Cyclists parking their bikes at the Sydney Festival

Over 250 cyclists left the car at home

For the fifth year in a row, free bike parking was available for cyclists at the Sydney Festival Domain concerts, during January.

Cyclists helped clear the air for three quintessential Sydney summertime events – Festival First Night, Summer Sounds in the Domain and Symphony in the Domain.

More than 250 bikes were parked in the complementary parking area, provided by the Office of Environment and Heritage, Botanic Gardens Trust, Sydney Festival and BIKESydney.

More than half of all car trips in Sydney are less than five kilometres. Cycling, walking and public transport are good alternatives for short trips, and help improve our air quality and health.
