The LFHW chef treated visitors to a cooking demonstration

More than 40,000 food lovers flocked to the Sydney Good Food and Wine Show. Visitors to the Love Food Hate Waste stand were encouraged to think not only about the food they eat, but the food they waste.

NSW households waste about $1000 a year in edible food. All that food is wasted because we buy too much, cook too much and are unsure about how to store it correctly.

Visitors to the stand were shown simple and practical ways to avoid wasting food at home and work, such as:

The highlight was a cooking demonstration using leftover ingredients to create delicious pasta dishes, stir fries and salads. The demonstration gave visitors a first-hand look at how to use extra fruit and vegetables in the fridge to create a gourmet delight.
