Minister Parker with Tamburlaine Wines CEO Mark Davidson

For most of the food and beverage industry, refrigeration tends to be the biggest energy consumer. Despite the large quantities of energy used, businesses are discovering big energy and dollar savings with new technologies and maintenance strategies.

Hunter Valley winery, Tamburlaine Wines, has managed to cut energy use by a staggering 40 per cent, with help from the NSW Government's Energy Saver Program.

A new report has been produced to help guide businesses like Tamburlaine run a more energy efficient industrial refrigeration plant. The Energy Saver Industrial Refrigeration Technology Report, was released by Minister for the Environment, the Hon. Robyn Parker, in July 2011.

'If NSW businesses save power, and therefore money, that's going to have long-term benefits for the business, consumers, their local communities and the broader NSW economy,' Ms Parker said.

The report details 15 energy saving technologies available to industry, complete with indicative power and cost saving data and payback periods.
