People who work in areas supporting or promoting sustainability practices have a new reource to help them – the Education for Sustainability Professional Learning Hub (the Hub) website.
The Hub went live late last year and was an instant hit with Education for Sustainability practitioners, particularly those working in local government. The Hub offers registered users an online self assessment to help them identify skills and knowledge to help them in their jobs, with links to resources.
Resources for sustainability practitioners

Education for Sustainability Professional Learning Hub.
The website allows registered users to submit their own content, including publications, websites, events, funding and awards. There is also a service provider section where education and training providers can create and update their own page, with links to other content they have submitted (such as events and publications). More than 400 resources are available on the website.
Workshops have recently been held around NSW for people working in sustainability. Participants experienced first-hand how the Hub can help them identify learning needs and work through their own self assessment to create an interactive action plan for them to follow.
Service provider workshops helped participants to create their own profiles on the Hub. Providers learnt how to find new learning resources to assist them, and how to promote their services through the Hub.
EfS Hub feedback
Feedback on the Hub has been very positive with users finding it easy to use and very helpful:
'I just completed a self assessment on the Hub – it's a great way to find resources! Really useful, I can see quite a bit of linkage with the training document we are developing for council officers.' Sarah Kinsela, Senior Sustainability Consultant, Adaptation Environmental Support Pty Ltd.
'The EfS Hub is a fantastic website! – so many I know are really impressed with it.' Amanda Carroll, Environmental Planner, Auburn Council.
'Thanks folks for this wonderful website, technology and resource. I allowed myself an hour to do a self assessment and visit some of the recommendations. I found it incredibly good and immensely reassuring that my work as a facilitator for sustainable schools in QLD is supported by an immense and growing abundance of quality resources. I will be passing on this most excellent link... ' Clare Cox, Earth Smart Science Program Facilitator Sunshine Coast QESSI Hub.
