'Energy expert' arriving with the FREE Power Savings Kit

By joining the NSW Government's free Home Power Savings Program eligible households can save up to 20 per cent off their power use.

Eligible households that join the program get a free:

  • visit by a trained energy expert to show them what is using the most power in their home. The visit takes about 1 hour
  • Power Savings Kit – this includes an eco–switch to turn off stand by power, energy efficient light globes, low flow showerhead, tap aerators, shower timer and door snakes all of which are fully installed
  • personal Power Savings Action Plan showing more ways to save power and money.

The Minister for Climate Change and the Environment, Frank Sartor, said "the installed Power Savings Kit will save households around 10 per cent a year off their power use. The kit contains devices such as energy–efficient bulbs, draught–proofing and low flow showerheads that reduce lighting, heating and hot water costs.

"Energy efficient behaviours, including turning off or recycling your second fridge and washing your clothes in cold water, can reduce power use by a further 10 per cent."

Marie from Penrith has saved money and helped our environment since taking part in the Program. "Compared to last year, my bills are down. I've really tried to stick to the advice that the energy expert gave me", Marie said.

"The draught–proofing has been really great. I've noticed that the house is now much warmer and I've saved on my heating costs. I knew that these things were important but when the energy expert told me how much I would save by doing them – I really made an effort to do them all the time."

To be eligible for the program you must be a recognised energy utility hardship customer or hold a nominated concession card.

The program is open to renters, social housing tenants and home owners. Eligible households can call 1300 662 416 to book an appointment. If you are not eligible for the program but want to find out ways to save power and money around the home, visit savepower.nsw.gov.au

Promote the program to your eligible clients, friends or family members with our promotional materials.
