
The guide is a practical user-friendly tool for all NSW businesses
One of the world's leading international NGO's on climate change, The Climate Group, has joined forces with the NSW Government to launch a guide to the low carbon economy.
The Business Guide to the Low Carbon Economy: New South Wales provides practical steps for businesses to get on top of measuring and curbing greenhouse gas emissions from their operations. Former Minister for Climate Change and the Environment, John Robertson, said the guide also includes clear and concise information about climate change policies and programs being offered by all levels of government.
"The NSW Government is committed to assisting NSW businesses in the transition to a low carbon economy," Mr Robertson said. "This guide is a practical, user-friendly tool for all NSW businesses. It provides an overview of climate change policies and programs at the NSW and Commonwealth levels and explains how these policies may affect NSW businesses."
"The guide will also assist businesses reduce energy use and costs and improve their efficiency. The State Government is working hard to ensure the lion's share of emerging industries and low carbon jobs end up right here in NSW."

Rupert Posner, Director of The Climate Group, said the guide would help businesses understand the huge opportunities that exist in transitioning to a low carbon economy. "Those businesses that are leading the way have shown that managing and reducing emissions creates significant other benefits," Mr Posner said. "By moving early, businesses will ensure that they are well placed to compete in a new low-carbon era."
The Business Guide to the Low Carbon Economy: New South Wales was commissioned by the NSW Government and prepared by The Climate Group and the Arup Group in Australia.
