Households in NSW are being encouraged to visit savepower.nsw.gov.au and pledge to reduce electricity use in their homes.
The online Power Pledge tool is a new feature of savepower.nsw.gov.au, a part of the NSW Government's Save Power educational campaign to help households reduce their power use, bills and carbon pollution.
The average NSW home produces 160,000 black balloons every year, with each balloon representing 50 grams of carbon pollution. By signing up to make a Power Pledge, individuals and households can develop their own personalised power saving action plan, track and measure progress, and see how their individual and collective action can save money, power and black balloons.
For example, by turning down the heat a few degrees a typical three person household can save 11,000 black balloons a year and $110 on their annual power bill. By making simple changes in the home, we can all reduce our use of electricity, which is not only better for the environment but also better for our hip pockets.
The Save Power campaign is about letting people know there are simple things we can all do to help our environment and asks what can you do in your world? by reducing electricity use at home and at work.
