Groundswell - Turning organic waste into fertiliser

Groundswell - Urban Sustainability Grant Groundswell, an Urban Sustainability Grant project led by Goulburn-Mulwaree Council, aims to establish the practical and economic viability of composted urban organic waste as a high quality, cost effective agricultural fertiliser. With a $2 million grant from the NSW Environmental Trust, the Council and its project partners Queanbeyan City, Palerang and Lachlan Shire Councils are taking organic waste out of the cities for use on farm land, simultaneously reducing the volume of organic waste sent to landfill and increasing organic levels in agricultural soils.
