Workshops on the Eco Schools program will be offered in 2009 during March and April. Five video conferencing workshops will be held for schools to link into and four face-to-face workshops will be held in Sydney and regional NSW. The workshops are aimed at teachers and school staff who want to access the $2,500 grants for implementing environmental management projects in schools.  The workshops will take participants through the application process, Eco Schools program criteria, program priorities and frequently asked questions.  Participants will also be able to bring their own questions to the workshops.

This year the NSW Environmental Trust will be making use of the video conferencing facilities available in most NSW public schools with five workshops being dedicated to attendance by video link.  Up to 20 schools can 'plug in' to each video conferencing workshop and those that participate via video conference are encouraged to invite colleagues from other local schools to join them in the video conferencing room. Four traditional workshops will be held to cater for those who cannot use the video link, one in Sydney and three in regional NSW.Â

Workshops for the Protecting our Places program will be held across NSW.  In 2009 a series of 11 information sessions and workshops will be held throughout March, April and May to help applicants prepare a quality grant application and provide information and hints on project management.

The objectives of the workshops are to help Aboriginal communities develop project ideas, to provide assistance in writing good applications and to go through the program guidelines.  The workshops will be a practical project planning experience where we hope to have a number of other agency experts available to assist in the development of an outline for applicant’s environmental projects.

Workshop dates are as follows:

  • 23 March 2009 at Yamba
  • 24 March 2009 at Port Macquarie
  • 31 March 2009 at Sydney
