Many Australian companies are taking up the 'Cleaner Production' challenge. The results can be ground breaking!

What can I do?

Can you see ways to improve? Are there opportunities for saving energy, resources and raw materials and reducing waste? Have you thought of smarter or more efficient ways to produce your product or operate your business?

Easy ways to make a difference:

Install energy-efficient lighting, including daylight or movement sensors
Check for water leaks and fix them: taps, pipes, hoses and tanks
Install water-saving devices and water-recovery systems, like dual-flush toilets and AAA-rated taps and shower heads
Make sure only stormwater flows into stormwater drains, both on and off the site
Establish or improve recycling facilities for manufacturing and office waste
Clean-up and organise areas where chemicals are handled or stored
Ensure first-aid kits and spill kits are easily accessible and well-equipped – and workers know how to respond and deal with incidents
Promote and train workers in safe work practices – what to look for, how to deal with incidents
Encourage and reward innovation and worker participation
