Cycling is a great transport alternative for both workers and the workplace.
It's practical, fun and healthy and is suitable for all ages and levels of fitness. Cycling can improve workplace health and mobility, in addition to reducing parking space demands.
There are many bicycle routes around urban and regional areas, and hundreds of kilometres of cycle paths under construction or in the planning stages. The value of cycling as a means of transport and physical activity is widely acknowledged and more steps are underway to improve the bike network, safety for cyclists and community awareness. Create a bike friendly workplace by providing appropriate change areas and locker facilities, and bike storage and parking bays. Consider establishing a staff bicycle fleet for workplace travel – an excellent way to improve worker wellbeing and also reduce fleet parking demands and operating costs.
