Contact your local council to find out what energy saving programs and initiatives are available in your area.

Energy Audit - understand your usage

Work out how much energy you're using now, where it's being used and its cost:

• Use the NABERS Rating Tool and compare your energy use with the average NSW household.
• Sign-up to Save Power news bulletins and discover easy ways to save power and money.
• Calculate the real cost of your hot water, taking into account purchase, installation and running costs.
• Find out how to save power at home and make a Power Pledge to save power and cut carbon pollution.
• Use the Greenhouse Emissions Calculator and find out how much greenhouse gas your household produces and how it can be reduced through choosing GreenPower.

Use NABERS Energy Explorer to conduct a virtual home audit, develop a personalised action plan and set targets towards improving your household energy use.

To help you monitor your energy use consider using a power or "smart meter" - an electronic device that allows you to view your energy consumption in real time. A number of these products are available so ask your electronics retailer for details.
