- Encourage your employer to provide facilities that make it easier to cycle to work for example secure bike racks and showers.
- Try car pooling to reduce pollution and congestion.
- Minimise car emissions by buying a fuel-efficient car, removing unnecessary weight, keeping the tyres pumped up and driving smoothly.
- In New South Wales, you can report smoky vehicles to the Environment Line on 131 555 or (02) 9995 5555. The vehicle must be smoking continuously for more than 10 seconds.
- Take public transport, walk or cycle with your children to school, the shops or the beach. This is a great way to increase your level of physical activity, while reducing traffic congestion and air pollution. Encourage your children to do at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity a day.
