World Environment Day Promotion Partners:
A range of organisations have kindly supported this Our environment - it's a living thing – World Environment Day promotion. Find out how they are reducing their environmental impact and how their products and services can help you to live more sustainably.
Nationwide News has been pro-active on the environment for some time. Advancing recycling has been a key area of our commitment, and as founding members of the Publishers National Environment Bureau we have done our part to help raise Australia's old newspaper recycling rate to 74.5%, the best in the world!
And of course we use recycled fibre in the newsprint we print on to make our newspapers. Our inks are environmentally responsible and safe to burn, compost or bury. Any waste ink is recycled as well. To ensure we have the highest environment standards in our operations since 1990 we have an Environmental Management Program which includes environmental audits and more recently, water and energy savings plans.
As one of the world's largest IT companies, HP's greatest impact on the environment is through our products. We apply design expertise to create innovative products and services with the aim to reduce environmental impact at every stage of the product life cycle: from product design, through manufacturing and transport, to use by customers and, finally, disposal at the end of a product's life.
This aligns with our customers' expectations of high performance, low cost and minimum environmental impact. For example, our current technology - flat panel displays, notebooks, multi-function devices - has been designed to be more energy-efficient than the previous models they are replacing, which helps to reduce the environmental impact without compromise to other product requirements such as quality, reliability and price.
